The wait is over. In Puerto Vallarta, the distribution of bank cards corresponding to the new Universal Scholarship for the Well-being of Basic Education: the Rita Cetina Scholarship, promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum, begins. The official distribution kicked off at the Ixtapa Dome, and in the coming days, the various secondary schools in the municipality will be served.

The Rita Cetina Scholarship seeks to guarantee the right to education and directly support the families of basic education students in public schools across the country. In this first phase, the support will be provided to those enrolled in secondary school and will later be extended to primary and preschool students.

What is the Rita Cetina Scholarship?

This program is part of the federal government's education policy and represents a historic investment in the well-being of Mexican children and adolescents. During 2025, each beneficiary family will receive 1,900 pesos every two months, deposited directly into their Banco del Bienestar card. Additionally, families with more than one student in secondary school will receive an additional 700 pesos for each enrolled child.

The goal of the scholarship is to help reduce school dropout rates and support the financial situation of households that entrust their children's academic education to government schools.

Another step closer to the Fourth Transformation

With the implementation of this scholarship, the Fourth Transformation government reaffirms its commitment to education as a right, not a privilege. The Rita Cetina Scholarship honors the memory of one of Mexico's most important feminist educators and represents unprecedented support for Vallarta families who strive daily for a better future for their children.

Local education authorities have reiterated the importance of paying attention to the announcements issued by each school regarding the dates and times for card delivery.
